Soup Dragons is a new, fun way to support local start- up businesses and community projects while having a social evening out! Simply put, Soup Dragons is like the ‘Dragons Den’ with soup! e ‘Dragons’ heard pitches from e Healthy Haven Garden who, having nally got their Summer House are looking for funds for an assortment of items to add to the garden and allow more events to take place. Ivar Minard read an extract from one his humorous books and brought along some paintings to sell. He raises funds for Solent Mind but also needs money to sort out his front garden. e nal pitch was from Lucie Mann of e Waterside Food Project, a conglomerate of di erent local organisations working to prevent food waste and assist with food poverty on the Waterside. ey were looking for money for fuel cards to enable the helpers to collect ‘waste’ food from local supermarkets and deliver to those in need on the Waterside. ey are also looking for sites fo r Community Fridges and store cupboards so mor e people can be helped. e ‘Dragons’ asked some interesting questions. A er the pitches had been heard everyone had a bowl of fresh homemade soup which was enjoyed while discussing the pitches with their fellow ‘Dragons’. Following the vote the winner of the rst Soup Dragons was e Waterside Food Project, winning the ‘Dragons Hoard’ of £180 (£5 of the £6 entrance fee) e next Soup Dragons will be on Thursday 26th May , there will be more details on the Soup Dragons Facebook page and by visiting: www.hytheanddibden. gov.uk where you can also apply to pitch to the Soup Dragons if you are a local business or have a community project.
