On the first Friday of the month , there is a fun ‘Arts & Crafts’ session. No experience is necessary, and participants are shown a ‘have-a-go’ cra each month. ere is a charge of £3 per person, which includes all materials, instruction and tea/co ee with biscuits. If you fancy giving it a try, go along for a free rst session. e next session will be on Friday April 1st when they will be making Easter Decorations. On the third Friday of the month , Greenbuttercup CIC holds a themed ‘Reminiscence Activity’ session. There is a different theme each month - with related games, activities and talks. ere is a charge of £3 per person, which includes all activities and light refreshments. Upcoming sessions are: Friday 22nd April (Railways). Please note that the session in April is on the fourth Friday, to avoid Good Friday, which this year falls on their usual day . In April, subject to the weather, we will be following a short Railway Trail (designed by ‘ ree Rivers’) before hearing from Lucy Lomax, who will talk about making train travel easier for people with Dementia. ere will be an alternative activity to the Trail for anyone unable to walk far. All sessions are held in the Green Room at the Plaza eatre, which is a fully-accessible venue, with parking available. Greenbuttercup CIC will continue to observe some Covid-secure practices to ensure the safety of their members. This means that numbers will remain restricted and it is, therefore, important that anyone wishing to attend any of these events, books a place. Hythe Huddle Dates for Your Diary Family Matters at Hythe URC are pleased to announce they are able to welcome people back to Hythe Huddle, the drop in support group for people living with dementia and their carers. ey meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at Cornerstone URC, Hythe SO45 6BR. Each month they have a speaker or entertainment and another social a ernoon, both with tea and cakes. ey also organise Spring and Autumn lunch trips. New NHS Scams to Watch Out For Since the beginning of 2022, over 400 people have fallen victim to new NHS email and text messaging scams with personal reported losses totalling more than £531,000. What you need to look out for: • Be aware of requests for personal information in messages claiming to be from the NHS. • Be alert to links or attachments in unexpected messages claiming to be from the NHS. • Do not respond to requests for money, bank details or passwords. e NHS will NEVER ask for payment or any nancial detail. How to report a scam email or text message: if you are suspicious about an email, you can forward it to: report@ phishing.gov.uk Suspicious text messages can be forwarded the 7726 (it’s free of charge). Hythe Memory Group meet up every Monday, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm at Cornerstone (Hythe URC), New Road, Hythe. Families Matter run the support group which o ers cognitive stimulation therapy for people with early stage dementia. It encourages people to socialise and have fun learning and remembering together. Carers are also welcome to stay and have a cup of tea and chat to other carers.
