Calshot Litter Pick On Saturday 26th March Fawley Parish Council once again organised their annual litter pick as part of the Great British Spring Clean Campaign. It was a great day to choose as the 23 volunteers enjoyed the sunshine and collected 25 bags of litter and one large tarpaulin of rubbish. e meeting point was St George’s Hall in Calshot, kindly lent for the occasion by New Forest District Council. Members of Calshot Youth Club joined in the event and the refreshments provided included biscuits made by the club – for which a small donation was requested and the monies collected will be given to a worthy cause which will be chosen by the young people. Chairman of Fawley Parish Council Cllr Alan Alvey said “Special thanks should go to the Council’s Youth Worker Amy Andrew and Steve Chiverton of the Grounds Maintenance Team for so efficiently organising the morning. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the volunteers that litter pick throughout the year, as part of the Council’s Volunteer Scheme; their efforts are much appreciated. Credit is also due to the staff of Fawley Parish Council and NFDC whose duties involve clearing up the litter dropped by thoughtless members of the public”.
