We pride ourselves on our customer service here at the hotel, especially for weddings. We go above and beyond to ensure all wedding parties are treated to an experience of only Sounds Easy Singers – Thank You and Goodnight! Many readers of The Herald will have supported and enjoyed the concerts staged over the years by the popular ladies’ choir, Sounds Easy Singers. First known as Sounds Easy, the choir was founded by Joy Dunning back in 2001. ey were strongly supported by the musical expertise of the late, great Derek Goodger who accompanied them and their rst conductor was Karen Hatton. With costumes the colours of the rainbow and singing popular music from the shows and other well- known tunes, the choir soon attracted a large and loyal audience as they performed at least two concerts a year and raised money for local charities. In 2007 Margaret Marshall took over the baton and with her hard work and with Rose Butler later becoming the regular accompanist, the choir continued to go from strength to strength. e name was changed to Sounds Easy Singers in 2014, with the number of singers growing to over twenty and, still staging two concerts a year as well as supporting other local events, the money raised for charity increased to more than £11,000. Sadly, as with so many organisations, the singers were unable to meet during the pandemic and the number of members fell largely due to age and illness. Rather than struggle on it was decided to disband the choir and live with the happy memories of many very successful concerts and enjoyable times singing together. All past members of the choir would like to thank their audiences for all their support, St John’s Church, Hythe for providing the venue for many of their concerts, Rose Butler for her help and advice and above all Margaret Marshall for her energy and enthusiasm in making such a success of Sounds Easy Singers in her time as conductor - they hope she enjoys being able to sing again herself with other local choirs. The next meeting of Hythe and District Historians on Thursday 5th May at the Hythe and Dibden Community Centre, will be an illustrated talk by Nick Griffith titled ‘Roman Villas and Mosaics’. It starts at 7.45pm. Visitors are very welcome. For further details contact Gordon Chambers on: 023 8084 4749. Hythe and District Historians
