Starting with the magni cent milking parlour, a ectionately named the ‘Cow Palace’, which was built by Nick’s Grandfather, Lionel de Rothschild, one hundred years ago, Nick and Caroline worked with a team of local builders, artisans and cra speople to restore it, and the adjoining buildings and courtyard, to, “more than their former glory.” Beginning just before the pandemic hit in January 2020 a dedicated team of builders and other tradesmen completely renovated the Lower Exbury Farm buildings, nishing in July 2021. e result, a beautifully renovated venue and art gallery with event space large enough to host up to 200 guests which has been carefully designed to cater for a variety of events including celebrations and weddings, pop-up restaurants, educational talks and classes, corporate events and away days. e Palais des Vaches has magni cent views overlooking the Beaulieu River and the Isle of Wight across the Solent, with a butter y lled meadow in the summer. e walls of the Palais host a fabulous collection of ne works by many of Hampshire’s nest artists, sculptors and ceramicists, along with a host of fantastic sculptures both inside and out. “First and foremost, we are an art gallery, and we are immensely proud of our achievement; but Palais des Vaches is also designed as a venue that gives a Palais des Vaches Palais des Vaches owners Nick and Caroline de Rothschild with bronze Falcon sculptor Geoffrey Dashwood great party!” comments Caroline de Rothschild.
