Liking and sharing on social media has the cascade e ect of nudging even more people to do this important and potentially lifesaving test. One week, the post reach was over 10K, which was fantastic. The Solent Protection Society is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the Council to support the protection of the Solent environment e Solent Protection Society has been established for over 60 years and its mission is to ensure the ecological and environmental well-being and wise management of the Solent area. e Society takes an active and constructive part in safeguarding the natural beauty and amenities of the Solent area, particularly its harbours. From the Needles to Selsey Bill, the Society investigates and strives to in uence matters such as shoreline planning, marine planning, marine conservation management, Solent ports, harbour management and sheries management. It also engages in key issues such as waterside developments and environmental control and in particular, pollution and the development of the Southampton Free Port. One of the major current threats to the Solent is the discharge of untreated sewage into the Solent. e Society is in discussion with Southern Water on its apparent inability to manage these excessive levels. e Society is looking for volunteers to become a member of its Council in roles such as an area representative, website manager, marine scientist or legal expert. With a exible workload and the ability to work from home, taking only a few hours a week, what better way to support the Society and ensure the Solent remains unspoilt for today and future generations.
