Spectators and parents at Fawley RFC were treated to a master class in passing and sheer determination by the Fawley U13s in the Totts game on the 27th March. e game kicked o with both teams competing for the ball ercely, Fawley broke the deadlock with a try down the wing by scorer Finlay. A second try was shortly followed by Fawley number 8 Eddie. A superb backs move lead to a third try being scored by Danny and to nish Fawley’s rout of Totts in the rst half Oliver scored a fourth try from a driving maul. Totts gathered themselves at half time and came out with real purpose in the second half and scored two tries. Fawley U13s were not quite nished with their display of running rugby and ran in a further two more tries by Danny who converted both his kicks to seal the game o at full time Fawley RFC 34pts v Totts 10pts. An outstanding game to watch for all and some magical rugby at U13s level. Coach Paul Patrick says the players are a joy to coach and embrace the RFU core values TREDS; Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. Waterside Bowls Club, Holbury, Southampton, S045 2PH e Honeypot Children’s Charity Golf Day 2022 will be held on Friday 20th May at wonderful Royal Winchester Golf Club. Guests will be welcomed at 11:00 am with bacon baps at registration and golf starting at 12 noon with a shotgun start for the 22 teams. ere will be a variety of golf games and challenges to compete in around the course. ey will be providing a three course meal in the early evening with a ra e and silent auction. Drinks can be purchased separately. Non golf-playing guests are also welcome to attend the meal. You don’t need to know exactly who is going to be playing in your team at the point of ‘buying’ a team ticket… this can be decided later. Once a team ticket is purchased, you will receive an email containing a password to share with whoever you wish to play, so that they can register their details to claim their place on the team. Tickets are available at : www. regi ster . enthuse . com/ps/event / HoneypotsGolfDay2022 New Forest Golf Club Seniors and Ladies Results Twice a year, New Forest Golf Club Seniors and Ladies sections get together for a mixed pairs competition. Despite rather dire weather predictions, nine pairs turned up to play Greensomes Strokeplay with a twist. In the Pinehurst / Chapman format, both players tee o , play each other’s ball for their second shot and then choose the best ball with which to play alternate shots to complete the hole. With heavy rain falling towards the end of the rst 9 holes, this was re-designated a 9 hole competition and for simplicity 25% of each pair’s combined handicaps used to decide placings. e format was clearly well liked as all nine pairs scored nett par or better. e winners were Phil Wright and Leslie Lloyd (nett 28.75), 2nd place were Pat Wickson and Sandy Thomas (nett 30.25) and 3rd place went to John Preston and Ann Spurrett (nett 31.75). All thoroughly enjoyed the morning and look forward to the return event in November. Dibden Open Golf Society (D.O.G.S.) Lowman Monday 21st March and the rumours were correct, the weather gremlins went on holiday and granted them some decent weather and it was bright sunny and warm. e course at Dibden had dried out, all eighteen holes were open and Trolleys were allowed. is encouraged thirty-two seniors to take to the course for an individual Stableford non-quali er. It was with pleasure that they didn’t have to contend with the muddy conditions of late and all bodes well for the coming Golf season. Some very creditable scores were returned and the results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Brian Lewis, 2nd Ian Blandford, 3rd Mike Webb; Division 2: 1st Bill Merrett, 2nd Ron Gooding, 3rd Ray Dunkason; Division 3: 1st Brian Cox, 2nd Jeff Andrews, 3rd John Bailey. With the weather set fair for the coming weeks they are hoping for a bigger turnout, and soon the interclub matches will be starting so everyone needs to brush up their skills. New Forest Golf Club Seniors Gwyn Lloyd Cup Results With such glorious sunshine in the days leading up to New Forest Golf Club Seniors’ rst trophy event of the year, it was a slight disappointment to see heavy clouds gathering as 38 Seniors sallied forth to play in this foursomes strokeplay competition o the white tees. However, apart from a general dampness and occasional larger spots of rain, the weather held out until everyone was back in the clubhouse. Top four scores were very close together with Ivor Griffiths and David Jones just inching ahead of the opposition by half a stroke to win the Gwyn Lloyd Cup. Top 4 placings were: 1st : Ivor Griffiths and David Jones (nett 68.5), 2nd: John Ireland and Ian Coundon (nett 69 - nett 30 on back 9), 3rd: Peter Neville and Ted Groves (nett 69 - nett 33 on back 9) 4th: Chris Webb and Charlie Tabor (nett 69.5).
