Antiques Roadshow Experts Officially Open New Gift Shop at Exbury Gardens Antiques Roadshow favourites Marc Allum and Lisa Lloyd have o cially opened Exbury Gardens’ brand new gi shop. e TV presenters and auctioneers were on hand to cut an opening ribbon for the shop which is housed in a contemporary extension linked to Exbury’s existing visitor entrance. Packed with a wide range of books, homewares, gardening gi s and souvenirs inspired by the gardens, their history and wildlife, the new shop has design nods to the Rothschild family colours with a dark blue interior, and the Exbury steam railway with retro platform-style lighting. Products have been sourced from as many local suppliers as possible including New Forest honey maker e Noble Bee, artist Marianna Kneller, Winchester’s Long Barn lavender, New Forest Shortbread, wood turner Jake McGivern of Ringwood, basket ware maker Green Spiral Willow of Dorset, author Sarah Brown of Fawley and Holbury’s Bare Dog Nutrition. Children are also catered for with ideas for rainy day activities and outdoor adventures alike. Marc Allum said: “What a treasure Exbury is. The spring colours were glorious and the vistas and landscapes both captivating and inspiring. Beautiful!” Robin Savill, Exbury Gardens Head of Operations, said: “Marc and Lisa have made a major contribution to making antiques appeal to a younger generation, in the same way that gardening has become a passion shared by all ages. We’ve taken great care to curate the products in the new Exbury Gardens shop so there’s less plastic, the products are more sustainably made and many support wildlife causes from their profits. And we’re delighted to have local companies on board too. The shop is already proving popular with visitors who’ve enjoyed exploring our wonderful gardens.” e plant centre at Exbury Gardens has also been expanded with 625 square metres of blooms now on sale to the public. It has a lovely range of ladies and men’s clothes and shoes, children’s clothes, books, DVDs, CDs, jigsaws, bric-a-brac and jewellery at bargain prices. Fresh stock is put out every day and Angie Vonlandau and her lovely team of volunteers welcome old and new customers.
