Woodside Singers latest concert - Lollipop Classics - is taking place on Saturday 14th May , 7.30pm at the Church of St Michael & All Angels Lyndhurst, SO43 7BD. Lollipop Classics promises “A avour to suit all tastes” featuring music by Handel, Schubert, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi and Brahms. A er the enforced quiet of Covid restrictions, Mandy Leigh of Copthorne Nursery (Fawley village) is excited to be announcing a return to the regular garden Open Days this summer. ere has been a lot of work preparing the site - a er Storm Eunice did some clearing! - and bringing on annual and perennial plants for sale. Mandy said: “The little plugs and annuals grew well, helped by Easter’s warm weather and we’ve received the first of this year’s new colourful perennials. The Heucheras and Peony look especially good. Newcomers for us include stunning new plants such as Heliopsis, a bright and colourful Daisy. If you’ve missed Wednesday 11th May we are also open on Sunday 15th and 29th May and if you stop for light refreshments there will be some of Doreen’s yummy cakes!” (Copthorne’s other open Sundays are 26th June , 31st July and the last one Sunday 11th September ). e Nursery and gardens support adults with learning disabilities during the week, by o ering a variety of opportunities including: bespoke work experience, learning new skills - horticultural and social, developing interests, exploring new activities, enjoying therapeutic experiences, giving time to constructive activities and making a positive contribution to the environment and community. Copthorne is a very special, quiet and tranquil place. Visitors on the Open days are welcome to walk the site, however please note the paths are mostly uneven woodland tracks. With its Christmas Lights, loud music, energetic group of volunteers and the generous local community, it raised an amazing amount of money. With your donations they were able to carry on their tradition of supporting local charities and good causes. e Christmas 2021 donations were shared between the Waterside Food Bank, Street Angels, Solent Dolphin (Alison Mc Gregor), National Coastwatch (Lepe), Hythe Shed at the Pier, New Forest Guide Dogs for the Blind, Warren Copse, Healthy Haven Garden and Holbury Manor Group.
