Tracey, who works for Sandra’s Florist (her mum’s business) in Holbury, has been a orist all her working life and also works as a oristry tutor and demonstrator. She has successfully competed in numerous professional oristry competitions, including winning a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Tracey overcame strong competition in this year’s Florist of the Year heats, where she created a hand-tied bouquet, an arrangement and a body adornment under the theme ‘Inspired by Nature’. Local florist Tracey Griffin is celebrating making it to the semi-final of the prestigious Florist of the Year competition. She’ll now showcase her skills in the semi- nal alongside nine other professional orists in a bid to make it to the nal of Florist of the Year 2022. e overall winner of Florist of the Year will go on to represent Great Britain and Ireland at the Interflora World Cup in September 2023. Asked why she had entered Florist of the Year, Tracey said: “I love the challenge and the opportunity to push the boundaries that competitive work brings. Floristry makes people happy and I love working with nature; I have a great respect for plant material and I think these elements can often be seen in my work.” Tracey Griffin e New Forest Art Society next monthly meeting is on Wednesday 18th May with Angela Corben for a talk and demo on Landscapes in Acrylics. Followed on Wednesday 15th June with Judy Tate for a talk and demo on Abstract/Pastels. New members are always welcome and visitors are invited to go along for a small entry fee. Meetings are held in the Pine Room at Lyndhurst Community Centre from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
