Happily, the committee remains unchanged for 2022, with Jan Wheat continuing as Chair for the coming year. A er the formal business, members enjoyed a light supper, a quiz and a chance to catch up with one another. Following the AGM in 2021, it had not been possible to meet in person until restrictions eased in July. e balance between sustaining the society as an active organisation and keeping members safe was solved by booking a larger hall and following COVID-19 guidance. At the rst actual meeting Phil Madeley was able to demonstrate the art of creating pictures using hot wax. It was both fascinating, entertaining and a great success. A er careful consideration, it was decided to go ahead with the Summer Exhibition in August. is was greatly appreciated by the visitors who were able to see their members’ work close up and not online as last year. ere were many enthusiastic comments about the quality and range of artwork on show. Special thanks were given to Carol Easter Fun with the Waterside Gateway Club at Exbury Club e Waterside Gateway Club recently held their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Easter party at Exbury Club. Sue, Jim and the team, who never disappoint, cooked a delicious supper of jacket potatoes with di erent llings, followed by tri e, chocolate cake and crème brûlée. e amazing guitar duo, Double Take provided the music and had everyone dancing and singing their hearts out all night. e Club were very pleased to have been selected by their good friends John Darcy, Jill Tomlin and Waitrose, as one of the lucky recipients of their quarterly community ‘Give a Little Love’ scheme. John, Jill and Jo from Waitrose presented the cheque, which means a lot to the club as it will go towards organising outings and events for the members. e evening was a great success, and everyone went home very happy clutching their Easter Eggs! Jill Tomlin, John Darcy, Jo from Waitrose, Nigel Cooper (Gateway Club chairman)and some of the club members e Waterside Gateway club is for adults and young adults with learning disabilities, providing members the opportunity to meet each other socially and enjoy a wide range of cra and leisure activities in a safe environment. and made available to members on YouTube. e society held its art and cra sale, as usual, in November, which was well supported. Some other activities have remained suspended such as ‘paint ins’ and visits but it is hoped to resume these in the near future. The society has an interesting programme planned for the coming year and details can be found on the website newforestartsociety.weebly. com together with details of how to join. In addition, plans for the Summer Exhibition at the beginning of August are underway, together with an exhibition at Hillier Gardens at the beginning of 2023. New members are always welcome New Forest Art Society Chair, Jan Wheat grateful to Colin Osbourne for his expert projection work that enables everyone to see the artist at work on a large screen. e last two sessions were lmed Mileusnic, Alli Goddard and Dot Lucas for their help with the exhibition and to Richard Smith for photographing it. From September, meetings have been held in their usual venue, the Pine room, and have covered a range of topics, including Colin Brown’s vibrant townscapes, Aimee Durnel l ’s watercolour techniques and Kather ine Anteney’s explanation and demonstration of reduction lino cutting and printing. ey are and membership costs £25 per year. Visitors to individual sessions will receive a friendly welcome and can go along for just £5 per session.
