More information about these fantastic charities can be found at www.families-matter.org.uk and Reach the Streets (Southampton) on Facebook. e event was a sell-out only a few days a er it was announced, showing the extent of support in the local community. As people arrived the tables were laden with a mixture of savoury delights along with an array of mouth-watering cakes. ere was unlimited tea and co ee being served, ready to wash the food down! e tea, co ee and condiments were kindly donated by Waitrose, Dibden. BeBe’s of Hythe also provided sandwiches for the morning. e support of these local businesses is invaluable. A er an hour or so of food and drink being consumed, two ra es took place, one was a popular teddy bear ra e and the second a general ra e. All the prizes were donations from a multitude of generous people in the local community. Prizes ranged from bottles of wine to holistic treatments. It was a busy morning with more than just food and drink, there was constant chatter and laughter. Many people needed the event, to bring the community back together and remind individuals that they are part of something bigger. e event was organised by Sue Kennedy and Carol Langdale, supported by an army of friends helping with everything from baking goodies to the essential washing up!! e morning was a huge success on so many levels and it raised just over £500, which was shared equally between the two charities. A huge thank you to everyone involved that helped make the event such a success. As always, see you all at the next one!
