The Totton group has been running since October 2021 every Wednesday at Totton Library. e group has a range of activities to help and support families. ese are o en themed, in March we made Mother’s Day cards using the hand and footprints of the children with di erent coloured card to create a border; creating a memorable gi that Mum’s will have as a keepsake. We created Spring headbands, by foraging outside for materials to include and inspire us. As we headed into April we coloured Easter cards and a hunt for coloured eggs hidden around the library! Before Easter myself and our trainee social worker hand delivered chocolate eggs and cuddly Easter gi s to all our families in the New Forest – with many families saying how touched they were at this gi , gi s provided by our local John Lewis Partnership stores. We have exciting workshops planned for May and June for our Home-Start families. ey are part of an initiative by Hampshire Healthy Families, NHS Southern Health and Barnardo’s to support parents with their new baby, going all the way through to starting school. ey are fun packed, providing useful information. Together we are passionate about creating safer childhoods, stronger families and positive futures. at is why we are working as a team with them, Southern Health and their Health Visiting teams. e workshops are part of the collaborative voice that is encouraged here at Home- Start; during feedback families speci cally requested learning opportunities as part of the group activities. We are in the process of organising a paediatric First Aid Course for September. We are always keen to hear from new volunteers or families that need support via group. Mother’s Day cards Brockstock 2022 at Brockenhurst Football Club As the football season draws to a close Brockenhurst FC’s attention turns to Brockstock, their biggest fundraising event of the year. Brockstock is an annual music and beer festival, although for reasons you will understand it has had to be postponed for the last two years. is year it will be bigger and better than ever as they aim to make up for the lost two years. It will be held at Brockenhurst Football Club over the two-day weekend of Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May . ey have a great line up of bands that will play from noon until dusk each day. ere will be plenty of refreshment opportunities with a beer and cider festival, a pimms and prosecco bar, a rum bar as well as a bbq, ai food and a vegan option. Admission is free but they ask that no alcohol is brought into the festival from outside. Brockstock is a unique community event that attracts a big crowd from across the forest and has something for all the family. ere will be a children’s play area with in atables, games, and stalls as well as a Tea Garden where you can have tea, co ee and cake. Bring your family and friends and enjoy this special village event. Keep your eyes open for more details of the weekend programme which will be posted on social media as well as on yers that will be widely distributed. e following week is the Queen’s platinum jubilee, and the football club will again be hosting some of the village celebrations with live music again on Saturday 4th June , so they look forward to seeing you all again as they shake o the memory of the last two di cult years.
