The Big Give brings charities, philanthropists and the public together to multiply their impact. If you donate money to the Honeypot Charity via the Big Give campaign between the 14th June and 21st June your contributions will be doubled! e Childhood Trust and Ineos have created a matching pot of £40,000 to double £40,000 of donations, large or small made by individual donors. Honeypot supports young carers aged 5-12 who are bearing the heavy load of caring for a loved one, o en single-handedly. e charity has local connections with e Honeypot House based in Black eld. All the money raised will go towards the Wellbeing Fund which provides access to essential life items for disadvantaged young carers. is may be anything from new school clothes, books to ballet shoes. An enthusiastic, sell out audience enjoyed a programme that took a nostalgic stroll through the music of the rst part of the 20th century. A period of rapid change in musical style with the advent of the jazz age, talking pictures and heralding the golden age of Hollywood. e Warblers opened their concert with a medley of songs from the pen of Irving Berlin including ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’, ‘Let’s Face the Music and Dance’ and ‘Steppin’ Out with my Baby’. e programme continued with songs by Rodgers and Hart and Jerome Kern. A medley from the musical ‘Me and My Girl’, arranged by the Director of e Warblers, Robin Phillips, concluded the rst half of the concert. A selection of songs by Cole Porter and lively performances of ‘T’ain’t What Cha Do (It’s the Way that ‘Cha Do it), ‘Don’t Sit Under e Apple Tree’ and ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ followed the interval and enjoyed the Scott Joplin piano Rag ‘ e Entertainer’. Two monologues by George Edgar, made famous by Stanley Holloway, and performed by the Director of the Warblers added further variety to the evening. e Beaulieu Warblers chosen charity for this year is the Rose Road Association who provide support for children and young adults with severe physical disabilities and learning di culties in Southampton and Hampshire. So far this year the Warblers have raised £1,250 for the Rose Road Association. It was in 2010 that a small group of people rst met to sing together for pleasure and from this the Beaulieu Warblers was established. For over ten years the Warblers have met in Beaulieu Village School on a ursday evening to sing a wide range of music from musical theatre, jazz, traditional songs and seasonal Christmas music. e Beaulieu Warblers are a friendly, social group – parties feature regularly!!! Open to anyone who has a genuine love of singing new members are always welcome.
