After a morning of assessments on Friday 29th April, the organisers of the show were delighted to announce the winners of the awards for Beautiful Borders, Showcase Gardens and Floral Awards with many going to local exhibitors or to exhibits inspired by local surroundings. In the Beautiful Borders category a Platinum award was presented to ‘Maggie’s Way’ by Sparsholt College for Maggie’s Southampton, Gold was awarded to ‘May Day Morning in Patricks Patch’ by Rachel Foster of Fairweather’s in Beaulieu and Ann Stow also received Gold for her design – ‘A Sense of Place’ - which evoked the sights, sounds, taste, texture and colours of the Alresford area. A Silver Merit was awarded to ‘Coastal Cottage’ - a beautiful border, inspired by the New Forest, by Heather Stevens. Silver awards went to ‘Jermyn’s House’ by Sir Harrold Hillier Gardens and ‘What’s it All About ALFI’ by the Alton Local Food Committee. In the Showcase Gardens a Silver Merit and the accolade of Best Show Garden were awarded to ‘ e Longstock Way’ by Longstock Park Landscapes for a garden that was inspired by e Test Way. Finally in the Floral Awards Lymington based Heucheraholics claimed 2nd prize.
