Friday 3rd June will see a special commentary and talk on Southampton’s links with RMS Titanic (cruise between 2pm–7pm); Saturday 4th June (cruise between 3.30pm–7pm) sees Shieldhall welcome the Selsey Shantymen, whilst on Sunday 5th June (cruise between 3.30pm–7pm) an ‘All ings Steam’ cruise is being staged. is is an opportunity to highlight the steam engines of all shapes and sizes to be found on Shieldhall, with additional miniature steam engines to admire alongside. Whiteparish Village Summer Fete e Whiteparish Village Summer Fete will again be held on the Memorial Ground, adjacent to All Saints’ Church, Common Road, Whiteparish SP5 2SU on Friday 3rd June from 1pm to 4.30pm, entry is £1 per person (Under 16’s FREE). All Saints Church Fawley Flower Festival All Saints Church at Fawley are holding a Flower Festival from Thursday 2nd June until Sunday 5th June to celebrate Her Majesty, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with local groups and schools displaying ower arrangements and displays based on the Jubilee theme. Alison Bennett, Priest in Charge of All Saints since October 2021, hopes that this event will not only celebrate this important milestone but will also be an opportunity to welcome visitors back to the church a er the pandemic restrictions of the last couple of years. It is hoped that this event will not only bring visitors from the Waterside but also holiday makers who may be taking advantage of the extended bank holidays. All Saints history dates to the late Saxon or early Norman times, although the parish of Fawley was mentioned in the Domesday book. e church sustained severe damage during World War II when it was bombed, and post war restoration was undertaken returning the church to its former glory. Visitors to the church during this event can look around not only the church but also the churchyard and conservation area, seeing the important work that is being done there to support and encourage wildlife. e church will be open at the following times: Thursday 2nd June – 10am until 4pm Friday 3rd June – 10am until 4pm Saturday 4th June - 1pm until 5pm Sunday 5th June - 1pm until 4pm. e event will end with a Service of anksgiving at 4pm on Sunday 5th June which is open to anyone who would like to attend. Alison Bennett, Priest in Charge of All Saints CELEBRATING THE BEST OF BRITISH Her Majesty and Her Firefighters Exhibition The Fire Brigade Museum in Romsey have a special exhibition running from 31st May – 5th June in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee, showcasing photographs of when Her Majesty has inspected Fire ghters from opening Fire Service buildings to o ering words of support to Fire ghters a er awful disasters such as the Grenfell Tower tragedy. ere will also be a range of artefacts such as medals awarded by Her Majesty to Fire Service personnel.
