A er a fantastic donation from Fairweather’s Garden Centre in Beaulieu, the School created an area of the eld with 7 trees in a row, each representing a decade of the Queen’s reign. is historic moment gave them pride and cause for celebration, not only because the School holds Ecoschools Bronze Level, the recent Bronze Green Tree Award from the Woodlands Trust but the fact they are planting a legacy for future students to enjoy and remember with a focus on sustainability. In addition to tree planting, the School has held its own Jubilee tea party! Sta and students were busy baking and ended the term last week with Scones, cream and jam! Union ag bunting was created and lessons on British Values took place. Mr Saunders, Head of House at Applemore said: “Britishness at its best and a great way to get everyone in the spirit ahead of the actual celebrations during half term.” Friends of Lepe Summer activities Friends of Lepe Members will celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee with a Pond dip, Prosecco and Picnic event on the a ernoon of 3rd June at Lepe Pond. e Annual General Meeting will be held on 14th July in the Lookout at Lepe and will be followed by a Ploughman’s Supper featuring local Hampshire produce and their Summer Barbecue will be on 17th August . Later in the year a visit to RNLI Calshot is planned and a talk about the White Tailed Eagles released onto the Isle of Wight is scheduled for 8th December . The Friends volunteering activities continue throughout the year. Opportunities to assist the sta at Lepe include practical conservation tasks, gardening in the Sensory garden, wildlife recording (birds, bees, butter ies, reptiles and wild owers), helping with events, manning the park reception desk at the Lookout and litter picking. If any of these appeal to you, why not join the Friends and become involved with your local Country Park. Go along and see live demonstrations, tours the facilities, meet your local crews from Fire, Police, Ambulance and the Forestry Commission and see how they train to save lives in their smoke chamber and (of course) climb aboard one of their magni cent re engines! Admission is free, light refreshments will be available along with a selection of stalls with proceeds and any donations received going straight to the Fire ghters Charity. MUSIC IN ROMSEY e next concert in Romsey Abbey takes place on Saturday 11th June at 7.30pm for Magnificent Bach with Bournemouth Bach Choir and Orchestra. Bach: Mass in B Minor.
