Taking place at the Pilates Studio New Forest, the Pilates-athon will run from 6.30pm Friday 10th June – 6.30pm Saturday 11th June. e 24 hours will be split into 2 hour sessions with Pilates Studio New Forest owner, Louisa Daniels running all the sessions across the full 24 hours. Louisa su ers from bowel disease and tires easily, so teaching for 24 hours will be no mean feat! Sponsors will be mentioned during the live feeds on Facebook and a list of the sponsors will also be published on social media including links to the businesses websites. All the money raised at the event will go to Chance for Charlie to help Charlie’s family to purchase an all-terrain wheelchair. Charlie has recently turned 13 and has a progressive muscle wasting condition called Duchenne muscular dystrophy. is vicious condition meant that Charlie lost the ability to walk in March 2020. If you would like to sponsor a slot or you would like to get involved Families Matter have been running the course ‘Managing your child’s angry feelings’ for parents for several years, in partnership with Kelly Price from Youth and Families Matter in Totton. e course runs for six weeks, with venues in Hythe and Totton, to help accessibility for parents. ey are also planning to run an evening course in September for those parents who work full time and are unable to access the daytime courses. is is a free course and parents love it! ey always have a waiting list, as parents nd it so useful to help them understand what their children are feeling, and why they may have angry outbursts. It is even more needed now, since the pandemic has caused may families to be more isolated from the support they might otherwise receive from family and friends.
