Andrea used to own a orist shop in Romsey which closed before the pandemic. e title of the demonstration was ‘Back to my Roots’ and featured Andrea’s childhood memories of her Grandad and Grandmother and their farm. A garden fork attached to a tall stand was used for the rst design. A Hogarth curve was created using ruscus before adding some aucuba japonica and hosta leaves. Beautiful orange antirrhinums, pink roses and hypericum berries completed this design. A trug lled with chicken wire was used for this natural design. Honeysuckle, ivy and thlaspi were inserted together with blupeurum, ammi major, small daisies, sun owers and some green hypericum berries. e next design featured a milk churn. Various types of foliage including laurel, lavender and rosemary were hypericum berries. Attractive model chickens were placed at the base of each design on completion of the demonstration. e members thoroughly enjoyed the a ernoon. Andrea’s Grandad practised water divining so for this design a tall cylindrical glass container lled with hazel sticks was used. Pale blue delphiniums and solomon seal provided height before adding aucuba, hosta, pittisporum, fountain grass, white lisianthus and white calla lilies. Andrea Hilliard e last design represented the chickens on the farm and a chicken feeder was used for the container. Pink astilbe, pink roses and large yellow c h r y s a n t h emums were used together with some ruscus and Totton&District Gardeners’ Society hold their meetings at Totton 3 Score Club Hall on the 2nd Wednesday of each month , starting at 7.30pm. e next meeting takes place on Wednesday 8th June for a talk by Pauline Weeks titled ‘You, your garden & climate change’. Followed on Wednesday 13th July for talk by Gerald Ponting titled ‘Flowers of reserves & roadsides’. A Summer Show is planned for Saturday 13th August with hopes of a Spring Show in March 2023.
