In addition, the best players could nd themselves representing their country in the world cup, as Leisure Leagues are conducting the trials to enable players to play for their national team. ere is free entry to all new teams, meaning a saving of £30 on the New Season in Hythe Community 6-a-side Football League On a dry, cloudy and initially chilly day, 36 New Forest Seniors embarked on this singles strokeplay competition o the white tees. In division 1 Mike Fawcett’s 8 pars helped him to nett 64, 3 shots ahead of Terry Gordon, while in division 2 Mike Wharton’s 4 pars plus a birdie on the 13th gave him a 2 shot lead New Forest Seniors May Monthly Medal Mike Fawcett and Mike Wharton over Charlie Tabor. Division 1: 1st: Mike Fawcett 64 nett, 2nd: Terry Gordon 67 nett, 3rd: Steve Lupton 68 nett Division 2: 1st: Mike Wharton 63 nett, 2nd: Charlie Tabor 65 nett, 3rd: Terry Jones 67 nett. e name Bland might be very familiar to golf enthusiasts and rightly so. Ann is the proud mum of Richard Bland the winner of the British Open and a regular on the European Tour. She is also a very good golfer herself. However, she outshines her famous son at cake making and is rightly famous for providing the sweet treats for her annual Ann Bland Trophy. On the day ‘Café 11’ was open showcasing Ann’s baking talents and the addition of Pimms proved to be a help to some and a hindrance to others. Congratulations go the winners J Weatherdon, S Hallett, C Beech and M Robinson who scored 52.4 with second place going to J Howells, C Davis, J Merrett and C Boiling scoring 53.75. Short Course Medal Quali er 5th May: A very close nish for the ladies who played the short course. Congratulations go to the winner Pat Greenham (Nett 30) who beat Jan Richardson into second place (32) closely followed by Liz Moore in third (33). Bramshott Hill Seniors Results Monday 25th April and another beautiful early spring day greeted the Bramshott Hill Seniors for their weekly competition. e challenge was a Stableford Quali er playing the Yellow course. 35 Seniors accepted the challenge and set out for what should be a high scoring game due to the near perfect conditions and the course in great shape. e expectations were not unfounded as the scores were indeed high. e following were the results: Division 1: Peter Paine 39pts, Pete Mortimer 38pts, Paul Wastell 35pts; Division 2: Kevin Rothwell 43pts, Peter Kimmins 40pts, Bill Merrett 39pts; Division 3: Keith Cartwright 39pts, Terry Wiseman 38pts, Brian Cox 35pts. On ursday 28th April a team of Bramshott Hill Seniors attended Amp eld Golf Club for an inter club ‘Match Play’ competition. e day was fairly overcast and quite chilly but no rain was forecast. Amp eld course, (for those that aren’t familiar with it) is a very pretty 18-hole par three course. is means that the game is di erent to a normal golf game as the long game does not exist and everything relies on a player’s short game. A very amicable game was enjoyed by all followed by an excellent dinner in the club house with all the usual banter. ey are pleased to report that Bramshott Hill won the day by ve games to one. ey look forward to the return match later in the year.
