Sundial Cottage was invited to go on the Solent Dolphin, and wasn’t it a splendid trip. Sundial Cottage has never been on the Solent Dolphin before and we all loved it. We really brought the weather with us. e Solent Dolphin is a charity run boat, which is always in much need of donations. Sundial Cottage wouldn’t have got to experience such a fun, well planned and well organised trip without organisations such as the Solent Dolphin. As a dementia specialist home we have to keep coming up with new and engaging ideas to support our residents in the most rewarding ways. Safe to say the sailing on the Solent Dolphin was a successful day out. e crew is made up of volunteers and the trip is all free, the crew is huge consisting of over 100 volunteers. Like so many things, the Solent Dolphin had to change the trip a lot due to the pandemic however the sailing season has now started and all restrictions are li ed. e trip now can o er more seats on the boat, a chance to go up to the front of the boat to meet the crew and you can even get a hot drink and a biscuit, much to our delight. One of our residents was a keen sailor and had been looking forward to the trip for months from initial booking. We are so grateful to local run groups like this. We are proud to be apart of the Waterside community. Sundial Cottage sails on the Solent Dolphin by Activity Support Staff at Sundial Cottage Residents enjoying their day trip on the Alison McGregor
