Due to the decades-long legacy of applied ICT expertise, their companies’ production methods are recognised as among the most modern in the world. MUK Solent has been established as a private sector industry-led body to promote a thriving maritime sector within the Solent, one of seven UK maritime clusters identi ed in Maritime 2050, the UK’s strategy for the maritime sector. Turku Science Park Ltd is a non-pro t business development company of the Turku Business Region, which works closely with all economic operators regionally, nationally, and internationally. Nearly a third of maritime industry companies in Finland are in the Turku Business Region. Developing mutually bene cial international business relationships was top of the agenda at the latest Maritime UK Solent (MUK Solent) network meeting where the network was joined by a delegation from a signi cant Scandinavian Maritime Cluster, Turku in Finland. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) demonstrating how the two parties will collaborate, promote opportunities and connect maritime businesses and innovation assets was signed at the meeting at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton. e Finnish delegation and MUK Solent network also had the opportunity to learn more about the NOC’s world-leading expertise in ocean science. Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division, which is building new homes across the county, has taken on Tamsin Nichols (22) and Rebecca Edwards (25) at its Hedge End HQ, and the new duo are already getting settled into their new roles. Appointed to help strengthen the housebuilder’s marketing team, both Tamsin and Rebecca are excited to learn more about the construction industry. Tamsin, Barratt Homes Marketing Co-ordinator said: “I am really looking forward to working with the team and gaining experience and knowledge in marketing and property development. I came from a sales role so my skills will complement my new position in the marketing team at Barratt and David Wilson Homes.” For Rebecca, who has already had experience working in the housebuilding industry, with Bargate Homes, her new position of Marketing Executive with Barratt Homes means she can take on a new challenge and progress within an industry that she enjoys.
