All who took part enjoyed the event. e club’s annual charity auction, to support the Honeypot Children’s Charity, was well attended and was enjoyed by all. e money raised on the night, plus donations from other activities, will be presented via a cheque to the charity in the near future. Details of the total amount raised for the charity will be reported in a future edition of the Herald. The Southampton and New Forest Group of the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club are continuing to invite potential new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to come and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members enjoy a friendly, social atmosphere at the monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e. ere are lm nights, quizzes, speakers on various topics and club drive days. Some members have other makes of classic vehicles such as Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the range of vehicle manufacturers to complement their Austin A30/35 models. e car pictured is a member’s 1961 Austin A35 van on its 60th birthday in 2021. It has been owned by the member for 21 years and is all original. e club is in the unique position of owning Austin Motor Spares Service Ltd, which holds a range of highly valued stock. New, used and reconditioned parts are sold by Robert and Rick Prinn who are able 1961 Austin A35 Van to o er comprehensive advice and help. The next scheduled meeting was on 9th June and was a ‘Quiz Night’. Questions were a mix of car related ones and general knowledge. Meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month, starting 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Rd, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them. All are welcome. Guild Party Hythe Townswomen’s Guild will hold their next meeting on Thursday 14th July for their Guild Party where there will be a bu et and they will celebrate the Queens Jubilee. Followed on Thursday 8th September for a talk by Jeremy Prescott. Violette Szabo, George Cross titled ‘Carve Her Name With Pride’. eir walking club, Knit and Natter club have both started, also their Social study group with plenty to discuss. ey meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at St Andrew’s Centre, Dibden Purlieu from 2pm to 4pm. Everyone is very welcome. Go along and enjoy interesting talks, and a friendly chat with a cuppa and biscuit.
