Despite early rain, the sun came out as eighteen teams headed onto the beautiful Royal Winchester course to wait for the shotgun start and to compete for the Honeypot Open Trophy which was rst awarded in 1997, the year a er Honeypot Children’s Charity started. Competitions throughout the day, such as Nearest the Pin and Beat e Pro against professional golfer Tracey Boyes, kept everyone on their toes. Dan Robertson from Clear Vision Financial Management Ltd in Romsey won Men’s Longest Drive. Steven Mackintosh, most recently known for his role in the movie ‘Rocketman’ joined the guests for dinner. He moved everyone with a speech on why he is a Honeypot ambassador saying: “It’s hard to imagine how tough covid must have been for these young carers. For them to have Honeypot and their incredible projects, the chance to be free and play, create and be children again, to have respite from their daily lives is priceless”. e winners of the Honeypot Open 2022 were Sweet Projects with local teams Par then Bar (Quilter) and Knighton Heath Golf Club Roll-Up coming second and third. e nal amount raised through ticket sales, games and challenges, ra e and silent auction was £14,000. Viv Carter, Community Engagement Manager for the Honeypot Children’s Charity, commented: “ We would like to thank Selwood Ltd for sponsoring this event and Royal Winchester Golf Club for hosting the day and ensuring its success. £14,000 is enough to fund Honeypot’s Wrap-Round support service for a full year for 14 young carers, including a residential respite break, a series of 1 hr after school SWARMs and 2 hours of online activity workshops. This really will help build brighter futures and create happy childhood memories for these young carers.” If you would like to know more about Honeypot, please visit: www.honeypot.org.uk The Honeypot staff and volunteer team on the day.
