At the suggestion of Twinkle Patel fromWalbanks the money has been donated to Families Matter, a Charity based at the United Reformed Church in New Road, Hythe, which covers the Hythe and Waterside area providing a wide range of services. Families Matter encompasses various groups for young people via SWANS and e Handy Trust. Help is provided for parents struggling to cope with children who have behavioural problems. e Our Time Group o ers help to families struggling with addiction and the Hythe Huddle group o ers music and activities for those with dementia. e cheque was presented to Julia Cross and Peter Blasby of Families Matter by Lions Pat Geere and Andrew Trowbridge. Julia Cross who is the Project Manager for the Charity said it will help them with their services in the local community. Romsey & Waterside Lions are a group of men and women of all ages who give their free time to raise funds that can be donated to groups doing good work in our local community. Hythe & Waterside Rotary give grateful thanks to e New Forest Wildlife Park (NFWP) for allowing them to have a stand for the day, enabling them to interact with the public and provide fun for the children visiting the park. Activities held included a treasure hunt, guess the name of the baby monkey and a colouring competition to be judged in September by Simon Chadwick, a local author and illustrator who designed a picture featuring many of the animals that can be seen at the park for children to colour in. ere will be two gi voucher prizes - one for under 7 year olds and one for 8 to 12 year olds. ere was also a ra e to win a very kindly donated family ticket for the NFWP. anks also go to Simon for supporting Hythe & Waterside Rotary and to Lidl, Hythe who provided sweets for the children. A great day was had by all. A Rotarian Panda! Dine in the Dark Dine in the Dark, in support of Guide Dogs, takes place at Brockenhurst Manor Golf Club on Saturday 10th September from 5.30pm till 11pm. Tickets cost £25 for a two course meal with tea or co ee. It will be a fun lled evening and eating your two course meal blindfolded will be a completely unique experience which is an everyday task for someone living with a visual impairment. e evening will include meeting trainee guide dog pups, working dogs, an inspiring talk from a guide dog owner and a ra e.
