Run by a large team of dedicated volunteers, it is a fantastic day out for all the family! e Sheep Show will be at the Show with their humorous live display, introducing you to nine di erent breeds of sheep, each with their own story to tell! Attractions across the Showground also include the popular Countryside Area with ‘have a go’ opportunities, livestock and equine classes, vintage machinery and the interactive mobile farm. Stroke a goat, learn more about reptiles and take your dog to take part in the family dog show. e Food Zone o ers a range of local BYRON OLIVER - Director & Trustee of Solent Dolphin Having lived in Hythe for many years, Byron, a director, trustee and the serving Operations Coordinator of Solent Dolphin passed away recently, just weeks a er celebrating his 72nd birthday. Born in June 1950 Byron was educated at Dame Hannah Rogers School Exeter where he successfully learnt how to enable and enrich his life acquiring skills that would stand him in good stead for the future. He became a book-keeper for the family business, Oliver’s Hardware, before moving to Lyndhurst Printing in a similar role. Byron continued to promote access for all and independent living. He was passionate about reducing barriers caused by society that don’t accommodate for disability and everyone’s right to live life on their own terms. Byron became a director of Unity 12, the award winning Spectrum Continuing Care and the Spectrum Centre for Independent Living. Byron devoted the latter part of his life to both charities which included taking bookings/arranging trips and volunteer rotas for Solent Dolphin a charity which operates the M/V Alison MacGregor providing free trips for people with disabilities. e charity was granted e Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the MBE for volunteer groups in 2015. It was therefore with great sadness that the family announced his passing a er a brief illness on Saturday 30th July. Byron passed away peacefully in Southampton General Hospital with his family at his bedside. He will be lovingly remembered by his and nieces Barry, Mark, Alan and Nicki and the next generations Ben, Tom, Hannah, Corin, Brooke, Ria, Maggie and little Freddie. He will also be missed by his many friends within Solent Dolphin. All are welcome to attend the funeral which will take place at the Cornerstone, Hythe URC Church at 11.30am on Monday 12th September followed by committal at Test Valley Crematorium at 1pm. Byron Oliver mother, Betty, sisters-inlaw Pat and Sue, nephews produce as well as the Kids Kitchen, Honey tent and Skills Kitchen.
