Dr Alison Vaughan, Director of Hearing Services at Southampton Specsavers, opened her specialist, community-focused audiology hub at Totton in July 2017. For the past ve years, the service has grown to meet demand, with Dr Vaughan investing more than £250,000 to establish other locations that support the population in and around Southampton. While Totton celebrates its h anniversary, the service at Abbey Mead Surgery in Romsey marks four years, and North Baddesley Health Centre two years. e newest addition, Bitterne Health Centre, is already growing a er opening six months ago. Dr Alison Vaughan says: “It’s amazing that five years have gone by already. We’ve met some wonderful people in that time and been able to improve the quality of life of many local people. Some of our patients have become friends and often pop into Totton for a quick chat. Our service at Totton has become a key part of the town, with staff doing their best to be available to support local people by offering a walk-in service for hearing screening and hearing aid repairs. Southampton and its outskirts have a vibrant history and an innovative future, and we are delighted to be part of such forward-looking communities.” Dr Vaughan’s team has grown to 14, with one manager, six audiologists, four hearcare assistants and three administrators. Dr Vaughan adds: “My team and I live locally. I believe Totton Specsavers Celebrating their 5th birthday in investing in and developing local talent, which has a positive knock-on effect for the community. I’m very proud of our team and the work they do.
