You married your Prince. He had to share you with us, And I’m sure now and then He would kick up a fuss. He always stood by you, Right there by your side. Your Rock and support ‘Til the day that he died. For you were so special, Always composed and serene. With great love for your country, ere has been no better Queen. But now it is time, You must say goodbye, To all those you promised To serve ‘til you die. This Wonderful Lady by Margaret Bell is wonderful lady, our Queen of Hearts, Her work is done here, she can now depart, She’s committed herself to us for 70 years! And behind her doors I expect there’s been tears… She has le this place with dignity and grace, No-one else will ever take her place, A massive void will always be there, But we have memories of the Queen we can all share… Back in the arms of her wonderful Prince, Who was sadly taken and she has missed him since! She can look down on us with her beautiful smile And know everything she has done has been worthwhile. Losing you was so unforeseen! So Rest in Peace our beautiful Queen, Our world without you won’t be the same… But you are our very sad loss and heavens gain… In Memory of the Queen by Dorothy Lockyer How does one pay tribute to Elizabeth our Queen? Who for seventy years had faithfully reigned supreme. A promise made at the start of her reign, to serve each day Epitomised the word “service” in such a faithful way. Each person met be it nobility, or rank and le Knew they mattered, as she gave her attention and smile Great wisdom shown, empathy with each person met Be it a small child with owers or a traumatised vet. A great love of nature and of course her horses Not to forget, that always in tow, her devoted corgis! With her great sense of fun, curiosity and wit Surprising us all when joining James Bond in a skit Jumping from a helicopter, waving a union ag As she opened the Olympics, still clutching her bag! In her Jubilee year a great secret was exposed As the contents of her bag were nally disclosed Whilst having tea with a certain Paddington bear Who li ed his hat, his marmalade sandwich to share e Queen opened her bag thus revealing to all Her own marmalade sandwich, hidden as a rule! e Queen has le a legacy for each and everyone We too can choose to serve and love until our days are done. Although we mourn her passing, she is in a better place Her faith we know sustained her to see her Masters face To hear those words; “well done, good and faithful servant,” come It is time to enter the joy of your Lord. Welcome! Evening will come, however determined the late a ernoon, Limes and oaks in their last green ush, pearled in September mist. I have conjured a lily to light these hours, a token of thanks, Zones and auras of so glare framing the brilliant globes. A promise made and kept for life - that was your gi - Because of which, here is a gi in return, glovewort to some, Each shining bonnet guarded by stern lance-like leaves. The country loaded its whole self into your slender hands, Hands that can rest, now, relieved of a century’s weight. Evening has come. Rain on the black lochs and dark Munros. Lily of the Valley, a namesake almost, a favourite ower Interlaced with your famous bouquets, the restrained Zeal and forceful grace of its lanterns, each in orescence A silent bell disguising a singular voice. A blurred new day Breaks uncrowned on remote peaks and public parks, and Everything turns on these luminous petals and deep roots, This lily that thrives between spire and tree, whose brightness Holds and glows beyond the life and border of its bloom. Farewell To A Beautiful Lady (In Memory of Queen Elizabeth II - Our Beautiful Queen) by David K Wilson, September 10th 2022 The end of an era has sadly arrived Our Queen has slipped away Called by the Lord whom she knew so well Knew well and loved every day She’s left a gaping hole in our lives A hole that can never be filled But given time the scars will heal That today seem so raw and unreal She was our Queen and we loved her Her passing is so hard to bear So quick so sudden it came as a shock Leaving emptiness pain and despair All we can do is say our goodbyes Farewell to a beautiful Queen We’ve witnessed a lady so special so kind But the bubble has burst like a dream She’s gone to be with her wonderful prince Her journey already begun The baton passed so quickly and smoothly Onto Charles the Queens eldest son So farewell again to a beautiful lady Farewell with tears in our eyes King Charles the third is waiting to greet us Beneath heavens all seeing skies The end of an era has sadly arrived Our Queen has now slipped away Called by the Lord whom she knew so well To rest in heaven each day Floral Tribute by Simon Armitage, Poet Laureate
