During the summer the trees were cared for by Barcham’s Nursery ahead of distribution at the start of the planting season in October. ese historic trees are now being gi ed across the UK. e Lord Lieutenants of each county, who are His Majesty e King’s representatives, have been championing the Queen’s Green Canopy locally and have selected the recipients of the special trees and pot. At the beginning of October the selected recipients Hope Street in Southampton, a pioneering residential community for women and children. In the New Forest a tree will be gi ed to e Cameron Bespolka Trust which was set up in memory of Cameron, who died in a tragic accident aged 12, to inspire young people to love and appreciate animals, in particular birds and their wider habitats. e Trust has renovated a cottage, Cameron’s Cottage, in the heart of the RSPB Franchises Lodge Nature Reserve in the New Forest, to create a sustainable place where groups of young people can experience and learn about the natural world. Sir Nicholas Bacon, Chairman of e Queen’s Green Canopy said: “We are proud to unveil this nationwide network of organisations chosen to become custodians of these special trees in Her Majesty’s name. In recognition of the positive impact that they have on their communities, the groups chosen represent the very best of Britain. The Queen’s Green Canopy hopes the trees will serve as an inspiration for tree planting within communities and to encourage care for the trees which already exist as part of our nation’s stunning landscape.” across the UK were unveiled by e Queen’s Green Canopy with 8 to be gi ed to charities and organisations within Hampshire, including locally The Honeypot Children’s Charity’s Honeypot House in Black eld who work hard to provide respite breaks for young carers from across the country.
