As well as replacing the worn out concrete slabs a new planter was built and this will soon be lled with spring bulbs and scented herbs, creating a pleasant place to sit. A er a di cult three years, bookings are now increasing at the village hall and the committee has arranged a variety of new events. Early in October the hall was lled with villagers enjoying a chilli supper and on Saturday 19th November there will be a Christmas Cra and Table Top Sale. A variety of cra s will be on sale including: candles, Christmas gi s and decorations and children’s clothes. e sale will run from 2pm to 4 pm. Tables can be booked by phoning 01794 340609 On Friday 9th December 7pm for 7.30pm, Beggars Belief, a local group, will be at the hall for a Christmas Folk Concert. ere will be songs old and new, borrowed and blue (not too blue!) with light-hearted moments and the occasional thought-provoking lyric. ere will also be two new Christmas songs composed by the group. Chair, Lynn Young, and Treasurer, Pat Francis displaying the National Lottery cheque for £10,000 VIP Visit to Age Concern New Forest’s Central Totton Lunch Club Oliver Crosthwaite-Eyre, Deputy to the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire visited the weekly Totton Lunch Club on Tuesday 20th September and was welcomed by CEO Teresa Blakey and Chairman of Trustees Roger Lee. He went to meet their Volunteers and say thank you, on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant, for the wonderful work they do. He asked that these thanks be passed on to all their Volunteers who help with all their Services. Oliver also chatted to the Lunch Club Members and wanted to hear all about the Charity, other Services and of course all their Volunteers. Age Concern New Forest feel very honoured and proud to have been asked by Oliver to visit them and to be Oliver Crosthwaite-Eyre with Volunteer Lunch Club Coordinator Ros Stollery, Volunteers Celia Parfitt, Christine Gould and Lunch Club Members recognised for the Services they provide in the Voluntary Sector. Have you got a few hours a week to spare to help the Hythe Voluntary Car group? ey provide a vital service to transport people who are unable to drive themselves to hospital or doctors appointments. ey are looking for somebody to help take bookings on the telephone one morning a week as well as additional drivers using their own cars (expenses are paid).
