Est., Hythe 023 8084 0163 Medal winners Hugh Marchant and Colin Firth 40 New Forest Golf Club Seniors turned out in somewhat variable weather for this strokeplay competition o the white tees. e temperature was very mild especially when the sun shone, October Monthly Medal but the occasional strong breeze and misty rain caused waterproofs to be regularly donned and almost as quickly discarded. Many of the arti cial grass tee mats were in use reminding players that winter is just around the corner. In this the last monthly medal of 2022, some very good scores were in evidence. Colin Firth won the division 2 medal by 1 stroke with nett 64, while in division 1, Hugh Marchant emerged 2 strokes ahead of the eld with a nett 62. Division 1: 1st Hugh Marchant 62 nett, 2nd Chris Webb 64 nett (30 back 9), 3rd Jim Worsley 64 nett (31 back 9). Division 2: 1st Colin Firth 64 nett, 2nd John Pickering 65 nett (29 back 9), 3rd Ted Groves 65 nett (32 back 9). Treasure Island, the Pantomime NMRFC Appoints New Coach New Milton Rugby Club (NMRFC) has appointed Ben Wainwright as its new men’s attack coach – and his impact has already been felt. e club’s two senior men’s teams have got o to ne starts in their respective leagues and both are seeking promotion. Wainwright was head coach of Durham County for ve years and spent another ve years coaching in Yorkshire’s premier league. He is now Head of PE at a Southampton School and selected New Milton to further his coaching career. He said: “I looked at a few clubs but New Milton had the right feel and I thought that I could do something good. There is a real family atmosphere and at a recent game we had 200 people watching the second team. I am really enjoying it and the boys are great and it really is an aspirational club and we want to take New Milton up the leagues.” e rst team play in the Hampshire Counties Division 2 and the seconds play in the Hampshire Counties Division 5 South West. New Milton also runs all mini, junior and colts sections as well as a rapidly developing Iron Maidens girls team and a women’s section, known as the Mother Ruckers. Men train on Tuesday and ursday evenings at 6.30pm and there is touch rugby on Tuesdays at e Arnewood School at 7pm. All the mini, junior, Colts and girls train on Sunday mornings with another Wednesday session for the girls and the Mother Ruckers train on Monday evenings. e club is always looking for new members, whether playing or social. Ahoy there shipmates, Copythorne Amateur eatrical Society (CATS) are getting ready to set sail on a fun lled voyage to ‘Treasure Island’. is new pantomime version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous story is full of pirates, love, treasure, and adventure and of course all the traditional panto fun you’d expect including a Dame (oh yes it does) and audience participation. So join the crew and you can go dressed as a pirate too if you want! ey will be performing ‘Treasure Island’ on the following dates at Copythorne Parish Hall: Saturday 26th November at 7.30pm, Sunday 27th November at 2pm, Saturday 3rd December at 2pm and 7.30pm.
