On 8th October visitors to the farm were able to watch e Great Pumpkin Weigh O , sponsored by Canna, a fabulous event with various fruit weighed in including giant tomatoes, marrows, long gourds and of course giant pumpkins! e biggest pumpkin weighed in on the day was grown by twins Ian and Stuart Paton from Lymington weighing in at 2332.5lbs. Another of the Paton’s pumpkins is on display at Sunny elds which won the British Record with a weight of 2,656.1 lbs the week before. As well as viewing various pumpkin and Halloween e next meeting of the Waterfront and Solent Patient Participation Group (WSPPG) will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday 17th November at the Hythe and Dibden Parish Hall in West Street, Hythe SO45 6AA. Nicky Matthews is a manager of a team of specialist nurses covering hospitals across Hampshire who facilitate Organ and Tissue donation a er someone has died. She and her team meet patients and their families in hospital when they are nearing the end of their life to talk about their options and decisions around organ donation. If donation is what the patient wanted, then this group of nurses go on to set up the donation which means lifesaving transplants can go ahead. Nicky will give a presentation on the importance of donation and transplantation and provide an overview of the donation process in the UK as well as dispel any myths. She will be happy to answer any questions from the audience. Complementary tea, coffee and refreshments will be available from 7:10pm onwards and there will be a ra e. e WSPPG and speakers give their time freely and look forward to welcoming you to the meeting. is meeting will be the rst AGM since the COVID-19 lockdown and new committee members are being sought. Anyone interested in joining the committee can contact the WSPPG via the surgery. All registered patients of the surgery and their guests are welcome to attend the meeting.
