Shieldhall Chairman, Captain John Rose, led the party on to the Bridge, outlining how Shieldhall (a member of the National Historic Fleet) is managed today and crewed entirely by volunteers. Councillor Rayment, in her role as Mayor, also holds the title of ‘Admiral of the Port’, an ancient title bestowed on the Mayor of Southampton by King Henry VI in recognition of the contribution the port had made to the country by ‘the eminence it had obtained in overseas trade.’ The Admiral of the Port and Captain John Rose welcome local Mayor’s on board Steamship Shieldhall Feeding Jacob, Harry and their Friends at Barry’s Farm A big thank you to everyone who has popped into e Herald o ce and kindly put a donation into the fundraising pot for Barry’s Farm!
