The weather was kind and a ernoon tea was successfully held in a large marquee, borrowed from the scouts. Music was supplied by Burnt Toast, who impression of the garden designed by Katie Long, which will be created in front of the Centre to honour June. In her speech, she paid tribute to June and the hard work and dedication she has put into the Centre for more than 10 years. In response, June thanked all those who had helped make her vision, that no-one should have to go through cancer alone, a reality and sent her heartfelt thanks to those that had organised such an occasion to remember and cherish always. Waterside Cancer Support Centre, part of Wessex Cancer Trust, was Diane Cutler, Chair of Trustees of Wessex Cancer Trust, presented June with an artist’s opened in 2011 to provide emotional support to anyone a ected by cancer. Although quieter since COVID, they are still there for anyone that needs them. June Richens played a range of tunes which gave the a ernoon a lively, cheerful feel. Thank You for the Music! Fawley Royal British Legion was the venue for a wonderful ABBA Ladies Night fundraising event held for Waterside Cancer Support Centre. ABBA Rebjorn gave an amazing performance and Blondie & Arf (the only men allowed) ran a disco to get the ladies in the mood and keep them warmed up between acts. Plenty of the ladies dressed up, with prizes for the best out ts. £700 was raised from the ra e, with huge thanks to all the local businesses that supplied goods and vouchers for the prizes – too many to mention. In total, an amazing £2,890.96 was raised from ticket sales, raffle and donations. Maureen Robb, Manager of the Waterside Cancer Support Centre, said: “Not only was it a great, fun night out, but all the work put in by our very own Ann McDonald and her team of helpers really paid off with such a fantastic amount raised.”
