With the cost of living increases we’re all dealing with, more of the support has been around no-fault evictions. It is naturally a worrying time for many people to keep the roof over their heads. e Crossings can help explore options available. Now operating three Drop-In Centres, they rst opened their doors in 2019 at St John’s in Hythe, open Saturday mornings, and is now based up the road at Cornerstone URC Church. A second centre opened in 2020 at St John’s Church Hall in Marchwood. In May last year a third drop-in was launched at the Baptist Church Hall in Black eld, open every ursday 10am to 1pm. is has proved to be well worthwhile and there have been several busy sessions there. e Crossings have forged increasingly good relations with New Forest District Council’s Housing and Homelessness Team. ey are very supportive and in volunteering, or supporting in other ways, please get in touch by visiting thecrossings.org.uk or call Andy Clarke - Project Leader, on 07486 551272. Volunteers at their Open Day in the summer now a Housing O cer has a residency at the Black eld drop-in on the rst ursday of each month, o ering help directly to visitors. NFDC also refer people to the Crossings who are seeking help with their Homesearch applications. Balloons were in evidence to celebrate as their team of volunteers gathered together at a recent Open Day held in Hythe and to catch up and strengthen relationships. “Drop-In At Home” is the latest initiative, aiming to give encouragement and support to people moving into their own accommodation. Many folk who have lived with the trauma of homelessness nd the prospect of responsibility for their own place overwhelming. is new initiative has been designed to walk alongside them as they make this transition. If you might be interested CPRE - The Countryside Charity Totton South U3A group are o ering a varied programme at their general meetings on 3rd Friday afternoon of the month at Colbury Memorial Hall including speakers. On Friday 18th November for ‘CPRE - The Countryside Charity’. On Friday 16th December for Christmas Entertainment. They also hold Coffee Morning meetings at Hanger Farm Arts Centre on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month 10am to 12pm plus many other groups on o er throughout the week.
