The Best Scarecrow 2022: Tea with Charles, Camilla and Paddington including: e Fox & Hounds, CT Fitness, Bolton’s Bench Sweet Shop, The Heritage Centre, The Forage, Peggy May’s Cafe, Paws in the Forest, Prezzo, Onomatopoeia and Roly’s Fudge Pantry. An amazing £1,800 was raised over the weekend for St Michael and All Angels PTA and Lyndhurst Preschool charities. e Lyndhurst Scarecrow trail rst ran in 2021 and it is hoped that it will become an annual event. e scarecrows were all part of the Lyndhurst Scarecrow Trail, a fundraiser organised by the PTA of St Michael and All Angels and Lyndhurst Preschool. erewere 85 scarecrows, designed and made by local residents, scattered around the village to nd, from super heroes to mermaids and a few recognisable lm and TV characters too! Maps of the trail were sold in the local Co-op with the costs of the maps and banners sponsored by Meridien Moderna. Local Estate Agents, Spotlight Homes, helped to publicise the event installing advertising boards around the village. Each map included a voting slip for people to vote for their favourite scarecrow. e scarecrow scene that won e Best Scarecrow 2022 was no. 84 e Forest Gardens ‘Tea with Charles, Camilla and Paddington’. Alongside this amazing display, the creators also sold delicious cakes and marmalade to passers-by with pro ts donated to the school and preschool, and they even kindly donated their £50 cash prize back! As well as the sale of the maps, a ra e took place with local business contributing prizes e next meeting will be a cra a ernoon with Mary on Friday 18th November. Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 2.15pm to 4.30pm in the Main Hall at St Andrew’s Centre in Dibden Purlieu. For more information please contact Christine on 07923 864985.
