Recent activities have included hat making, cake and biscuit decoration, Morris dancing, boat trip, singing discos, line dancing, club auction, bingo, numerous cra projects, board games, individual and team sports/exercise events, walks, snooker, jigsaws, visit by a Shetland pony and other animals and their popular seasonal bu et events. ey are hoping to arrange some coach trips early next year to external Brockenhurst Gateway Club is a friendly, social club for adults (16+) with learning disabilities that meets every ursday evening from 7pm to 8.45pm in term time at Brockenhurst Village Hall. ey are always looking for more volunteers and also welcome new club members. Carers are also welcome to go along. Volunteers and members do not have to commit to attend every week. e club was set up just over 27 years ago and run by a small committee, volunteers, Club Leader and two Assistant Leaders alongside New Forest Mencap charity. e aim of the club is to give members an opportunity, not only to socialise, but to take part in a variety of activities to suit individual needs, learn new skills and develop existing skills in a friendly and safe Music Making and Sharing takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 2pm to 5pm at Calmore Village Hall, Pauletts Lane, Totton/Calmore SO40 2RS. e cost is just £5 payable at the door. e group welcome and encourage you to share and listen to people’s musical enthusiasm – the instrument of their choice and the genre they like. All levels of ability welcome from professionals to beginners. Anybody can join who would like to play/sing a couple of pieces to non-judgemental fellow musicians. Perhaps you compose your own music. ey would love to hear it. eir meetings start with a brief musical warm-up and then they take turns in playing and listening to each other. ere is solo and duet or small group playing of pieces people have practiced and want them to hear. ey share their passion with perfected pieces and/or pieces in progress. eir space is open for experimentation, risk taking and appreciation. ey welcome adults, young people from age 16 years and supervised children.
