Coming to terms with the loss of a loved one at any time is hard and these feelings may be magni ed as the festive period approaches, knowing that you will not be celebrating this time with those who are no longer with us; whether for the rst time or not, this can be di cult to face. Oakhaven would like to invite every member of the community to join them as they take the time to re ect on times spent with those we have lost. In December each year, Oakhaven Hospice holds their Light up a Life service of remembrance and thanksgiving for those who are no longer with us. is year Oakhaven will be hosting several services. On Monday 12th December in Lymington at St omas’s church there will be a service at 3pm and 6pm and on Tuesday 13th December Oakhaven will hold their rst ever Light Up a Life Service at St John the Baptist Church in Hythe. TABLE TOP SALES Every 2 weeks on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 12noon there’s a great Table Top Sale at Cornerstone Hythe URC in New Road. ere is always a great selection of Electricals, Jewellery, Collectables, Kitchenware, Glassware, Bags, Toys, Puzzles, Brica-brac and an extensive library of Paperback Books, CDs, and DVDs. All proceeds go to the Cornerstone Outreach Fund supporting mission and outreach locally, in the UK and overseas. e next sale will take place on Tuesday 22nd November. Blackfield Messy Church e Christmas session of Black eld Messy Church will take place on Saturday 26th November at 2pm at Black eld Baptist Church, Hampton Lane, Black eld. All families with children of any ages are invited to go along and share with them about the story of Christmas, and why Jesus came to earth. Christmas cra s and refreshments will be available to all, free of charge. Please do go and celebrate with them. Music in Winter with Ann Turner and Friends On Saturday 10th December, Ann Turner and Friends will be presenting a concert entitled ‘Music in Winter’ in St Andrew’s Centre Hall at 7.30pm. It will be in aid of the Honeypot Children’s Charity which provides support to children between 5 and 12 who act as young Carers. e local base is just outside Exbury. e concert will consist of a variety of musical styles including some pieces from musical theatre and arrangements of folk songs it will also give you a chance for you to join in! e items will include piano duets and vocal music in the form of solos and ensembles. You will also be able to hear more about the charity during the evening. ere are over 800,000 young carers in the UK and some of these children look a er a loved one for over 30 hours a week, indeed some of these carers are as young as 5. One in three of them struggle with mental health issues and on average they are 9 GCSE grades below their peers. e charity provides 2,500 places across the UK each year and these placements include respite breaks and complementary support for the youngsters and it allows them to be children for a time, giving them a break from the heavy burden that they carry. Indeed, the charity allows them to make happy childhood memories and build their belief that they can achieve in education and beyond. e charity services are designed to alleviate stress and social isolation and loneliness, stimulate imagination, improve well-being and assist with social and emotional aspects of learning. ere is no charge or tickets for the concert but there will be a retiring collection which will be used totally in support of the charity. Why not go along to an entertaining evening and support a very worthwhile cause. Treasure Island Ahoy there shipmates, Copythorne Amateur eatrical Society (CATS) are getting ready to set sail on a fun lled voyage to ‘Treasure Island’. is new pantomime version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous story is full of pirates, love, treasure, and adventure and of course all the traditional panto fun you’d expect including a Dame (oh yes it does) and audience participation. So join the crew and you can go dressed as a pirate too if you want! ey will be performing ‘Treasure Island’ on the following dates at Copythorne Parish Hall: Saturday 26th November at 7.30pm, Sunday 27th November at 2pm, Saturday 3rd December at 2pm and 7.30pm.
