Sta from the estates department at the Fawley site were joined by specialist teams from Veolia and Trant to demolish an old wooden pavilion in the grounds Going, going, gone! The team effort made short shrift of the demolition process. of Waterside Primary School in Hythe during the half-term holiday. e school issued a plea to the local community for help in deconstructing the old and dangerous sheltered structure to enable them to start their plans to build an outdoor classroom funded by New Forest District Council. e outdoor classroom will not only bene t the school but also the wider community as well as local charities which assist families in need by supplying healthy school meals during the holidays to ensure they do not go without a hot meal. Following the appeal, the ExxonMobil estates team rose to the challenge, and it took the team of four workers just a few hours to carefully bring down the structure using a JCB. ey then cleared and tidied up the site using a roll-on roll-o skip provided by Veolia, leaving it ready for the school to begin preparing for the new building which will be constructed next year. Danny Carr, Estates Superintendent at ExxonMobil Fawley, said: “When we heard that the school was looking for a bit of help, we were happy to oblige. It was a real team effort between ourselves and the two contractors and it didn’t take long to bring down safely.” Kerrie Reeves, Business Manager at Waterside Primary added: “We can’t thank the team enough because without them we wouldn’t have been able to proceed with the plans. We secured funding for the new building, but with all the increasing costs, we couldn’t have afforded to get someone in to do the demolition work, so this has really been a lifesaver for us.”
