At the beginning of December The Warblers performed their Christmas Concert of seasonal music and readings to a sell out audience in Palace House Beaulieu by kind permission of Lord Montagu. Several items in the programme were arranged especially for the Warblers by their director Robin Phillips including the Chris De Burgh hit ‘A Spaceman came Travelling’ and the Christmas chestnut ‘Mistletoe and Wine’. e evening was in aid of e Countryside Education Trust. e Warblers also braved the cold wind to lead the singing at the Marina Carols in Hythe. ey are now rehearsing for their spring concerts - ‘From Literature to Lyrics’ - featuring songs from musicals such as Matilda, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and Cats. Rehearsals are every ursday evening at 7.30pm in Beaulieu School and new members are always welcome. The Beaulieu Warblers Singing at the Montagu Arms on Christmas Eve with their director Robin Phillips and accompanist Leigh Jerwood CHRISTMAS RAFFLE DONATION TO LOCAL DAY CARE CENTRE e Hythe Marina Association (HMA) held a ra e at its annual pre-Christmas lunch, with the proceeds this year being in aid of the Horrill Care and Wellbeing Centre in Dibden. e prizes were kindly donated by: Marina Developments Ltd (MDL), Exbury Gardens, the Montagu Arms Hotel in Beaulieu and Hair by Emma Franzese, on the marina. e Horrill Care and Wellbeing Centre is run by Age Concern Hampshire and o ers day care to elderly and vulnerable clients, who are enabled to continue living at home but have the opportunity to attend the warm and friendly environment of the day centre where they are assisted by a team of caring sta . ere are various social activities and outings on o er, people have a hot 2 course lunch and importantly companionship, whilst also allowing their families and carers some valuable respite time. £380 was raised and was donated to the day care centre; the cheque was recently presented to the Centre Manager Donna Best by HMA Chairman David Rush.
