From Praizin’ Hands Puppet Group is lovable pair are part of the Praizin’ Hands Puppet Group (charity no 1186981), a Hythe based charity. e puppet group started in 2003 so this year we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary. e puppets and their human pals are keen to hear from anyone interested in volunteering for something a little bit di erent - to join the stage crew and help out in performances behind the scenes or become part of the Big Hands female adult teamworking with the puppets. Big Hands meet on Wednesday mornings for several hours, from January - March in the lead up to Easter and September to December leading up to Christmas. We then do performances in the weeks before Easter and Christmas. No previous puppeteering necessary and no requirement to sing or speak - the puppets go to a secret location on their own to record themselves. Despite the economic squeeze facing most of us at the moment, local shoppers at Holbury Co-op and Dibden Tesco pulled out all the stops and enabled Hythe & Waterside Rotary to collect a grand total of £1,618.62 for this year’s Christmas Collection. Rotary Santa and his little helpers were warmly greeted at both stores and the added bonus of a card machine for those who no longer carry cash resulted in amazing generosity from local people. Hythe & Waterside Rotary President David Saunders said: “We cannot thank people enough for donating to us again this year. As always, the money raised rough our Big Hands team, the PSHE (Physical, Social Health and Economic) Schools project team and Little Hands youth team, the puppets share the Easter and Christmas stories with music and drama to schools, care homes and toddler groups on the Waterside and further a eld. ey also present on secular social issues on a range of topics (like cyber-bullying) to help children and young people make the right choices, as well as leading church services and taking part in community fun days.
