26th January 2023 • The HERALD • Page 27 v INDEPENDENT, LOCAL AND PROUD v FINALLY A HOME FOR FAWLEY RUGBY CLUB ere is a sense of anticipation in the air at Fawley Rugby Club as the long awaited new clubhouse pavilion begins to take shape. Work nally began a er years of planning and fundraising in October on the groundworks and in November the walls started to take shape. By the end of November work began on preparation for the roof structure and as Christmas neared the roof went on, making it watertight before the Christmas break, a fantastic achievement for all those involved in the construction thus far. Fundraising for the clubhouse was boosted in November with a fantastic £50k grant awarded by Dibden Allotments Fund in memory of a former trustee and long serving rugby club Life-Vice President and former coach Declan English and together with a £25k grant from NFDC community grant scheme, £1k grant from Barker Mills Estates, some £50k raised by the Club so far and a loan from the RFU for £150k, the dream has now become reality. ey are still fundraising and are hoping to raise another £20k throughout the build, so if you would like to contribute, please visit their Just Giving page where you can ‘Buy a Brick’ for £200 or donate an amount of your choice: justgiving.com/fawleyrfcclubhouse If you are a local business and would like to sponsor the build, please contact Petina Morris, Sponsorship Secretary via email: p.morris7@sky.com or telephone: 07788 174962. e build so far has attracted some generous support from local companies and Fawley Rugby Club would like to thank the following: Graceland Ltd, P.C.
