In 2022/2023 alone the Waterside Foodbank helped 1839 children and 2548 adults in the local community, 4447 people in total - up 20% from the previous year. Waterside Foodbank collects a selection of tinned and dried foods through supermarkets, organisations, churches and individual donations. ey pack 3-day Emergency Food Boxes (EFBs) for distribution to singles, couples or families. As well as providing much needed food, they also have Signposting Volunteers who provide a listening ear and can help to give people further information and put them in touch with other agencies that might be able to assist them. How the Waterside Foodbank is accessed by those needing help Referral Agencies hold Foodbank vouchers to issue to people living on e Waterside, who, because of a short term crisis situation, have no nancial resources to buy food. e voucher is exchanged for an Emergency Food Box by dropped o at special supermarket collections in the area, the Waterside Foodbank Centre in Black eld or via local collection points. Groups can organise a satellite collection point for the Foodbank, such as Churches, schools, workplaces, and activity groups.  e Project Team will appropriately support anyone willing to collect donations on their behalf. Corporate contributors can provide bulk food for the project. Alternatively cash donations can be made to the Foodbank; these provide vital funds to underpin the running costs of e Foodbank. e most needed items are: • Powdered Milk • UHT milk • Instant Mashed Potato • Co ee (100g) • Biscuits • Pasta Sauce (Jars) • Sponge Puddings/Custard • Fish (tinned)/Meat (tinned) • Fruit juice (long life carton) • Rice pudding (tinned) • Carrots/Peas/Sweetcorn/potatoes (tinned) • Fruit (tinned) • Soup (tinned) • Toilet Rolls • Toiletries • Dried pet food (small) • Cleaning products (small) Waterside Food Bank is open: Tuesday 10am to 4pm, ursday 10am to 1pm and Friday 10am to 1pm. Each box consists of three days of nutritionally balanced tinned and dried food, bread, eggs, and a selection of fruit and vegetables which are designed to give individuals or families in crisis a breathing space while other support/help is organised. is is a short-term measure only and will be backed with the o er of additional help to tackle the cause of the present crisis.
