Over the past 10 year’s the League have provided many items of equipment for hospital departments amounting to £122,182. ese included an ultrasound scanner, a pulmonary diagnostic machine, phlebotomy chairs, wheelchairs and many smaller items. More recently when the Wound Clinic was setting up, the League provided the majority of the equipment that was needed including two specialised patient chairs. e cost of all the equipment came to around £7,000. e Frailty Team based at Hythe Hospital required equipment during its start up in 2019. e sta approached the League of Friends for help. Members agreed and purchased equipment to be carried in their response vehicle used for visits to patients unable to get to the hospital. is amounted to around £16,000 and helped a new service for the local community which has since expanded. At their meeting last month League of Friends trustees agreed to further support the Frailty teams and the development of a Virtual Ward. ere will be a joint venture with with Lymington Friends and both groups have set aside £10,000 to fund the equipment required. is will enable Frailty teams and Virtual Ward sta to constantly monitor patients electronically at home, checking them regularly to revue their health and visit as and when necessary. Requests for equipment for the rest of the new hospital have been slowly coming in and the League will be funding a cold water machine and a specialised wheelchair for the upper oor. An external de brillator will be purchased if a suitable position can be found on the new building. Volunteers from the League of Friends continue to serve at the Refreshment Bar in the waiting room with all pro ts from this, and the sale of books, used for the bene t of patients using the hospital. Services held in Hythe Hospital are as follows: - Physiotherapy, Imaging – X-ray, Ultra-Sound, Podiatry, Community Dentistry, Midwives clinics, Leg Ulcer clinic (community nursing), Children’s clinics, AAA screening, Spiromerty, visiting consultants, i.e., Gynacology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Pain service and Audiology.
