Brimming with Italian zest, Simply Italian on Sunday 23rd April is one of Beaulieu’s most colourful Simply rallies, bringing together all manner of lively Italian cars for a diverse display. Taking place on National Drive-It Day, every marque and model of Italian car is welcome, from Fiats to Ferraris, De Tomasos to Lancias, Alfa Romeos to Zagatos. No matter if you own an exotic supercar or a lively city car, if it’s Italian, it has a place in the rally. On Wednesday 15th March, although cold and overcast the weather stayed dry with very little wind, as this popular xture organised by Ladies Captain Carol Wickson attracted 10 Ladies and 10 Seniors. Each pair played Pinehurst / Chapman strokeplay format whereby both players tee o , play each other’s ball for their second shot, then choose the best ball with which to play alternate shots to complete the hole. With 50% of their combined handicaps ranging from 20 to 28 strokes, the pairings were quite evenly matched and top scores very close. First prize went to the two Captains Carol Wickson and Hugh Marchant with Gill Wright claiming nearest the pin. All had a really enjoyable day and look forward to the return xture in October. Top 3 placings were: 1st: Carol Wickson and Hugh Marchant – nett 63, 2nd: Linda Samuel and Gill Wright The winners, Seniors Captain Hugh Marchant and Ladies Captain Carol Wickson – nett 64, 3rd: Ann Spurrett and Roy Nelson – nett 65. New Forest Golf Club vs Southampton e rst New Forest Golf Club Seniors interclub match of the season took place on Monday 20th March at home against Southampton. In decidedly soggy conditions the match ended in a very friendly 3-3 draw with one of the New Forest pairs winning 9&7!
