For those who think that a full marathon is too much, you can start at Mudeford and complete a half marathon and if that’s a little too strenuous then opt for the 7 mile hike from Barton on Sea. ere really is something for everyone. All walkers will receive a special Hospice Walk t-shirt to wear on the day. All funds raised go to support Oakhaven Hospice’s free of charge services for patients and their loved ones, both in the hospice and in homes throughout the New Forest, Totton, and Waterside communities. ey ask walkers taking part to raise additional sponsorship, as the again this year is Pennyfarthing Homes, an award-winning local home builder, which has been building homes in the New Forest area for over 40 years. Kindly sponsoring e Hospice Walk Walkers taking part in The Hospice Walk enjoying the beach The Spitfire Makers New Forest Aviation Group (NFAG) meets monthly on the second Friday of the month at Lyndhurst Community Centre to enjoy a presentation from a speaker on all things ying (and beyond) followed by refreshments and chat with the speaker and NFAG friends. e next meeting is on Friday 12th May for a talk titled ‘ e Spit re Makers’ by Alan Matlock. e human story of the attack on the Spit re factory and more than 30 secret sites that enabled ongoing Spit re production. ey meet at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start and the meeting normally nishes 9.45pm. Admission is £2 for members and £4 for visitors. Full information is available at: www.nfag.info General Site Maintenance Day at Tadburn Meadows Tadburn Meadows Local Nature Reserve, located in Romsey (SU367214) will be holding a General Site Maintenance Day on Saturday 13th May from 10am until 12noon, meet at the entrance to the reserve at Eight Acres. Tadburn Meadows Local Nature Reserve is hidden amongst the houses and covers almost 12 acres and provides a home for a variety of Britain’s best loved wildlife and some nationally threatened species. e site boasts a variety of habitats, from a stream more characteristic of the New Forest to wet woodland and grassland. Tadburn Conservation Volunteers are a local group working on Tadburn Meadows Local Nature Reserve, Romsey. Contact: tadburn.meadows@ gmail.com ONE DAY FUN DAY – SHAZFEST! A charity fundraiser is taking place at the Malt and Hops in Hythe on Saturday 13th May, 2pm to late. Shazfest will be a one day fun day with live music on the day from the Goodnight Sweethearts, the Trav Cats, Hinterland & Ultra as well as a karaoke. ere will also be stalls and food. Organised by Jill Masterman in memory of her best friend, who sadly passed away from oesophageal cancer, all the proceeds from Shazfest will go to Cancer Research UK. Jill has chosen the 13th May to coincide with what would have been Shaz’s 53rd Birthday.
