Once again, Hythe and Waterside Rotary invite you to take part in their Annual Charity Walk at Beaulieu on Sunday 25th June, either to raise money for your charity or club or to simply enjoy the countryside with your family and friends. Why not take the dog? anks as always go to Lord Montagu who kindly allows the walk to take place in parts of the Beaulieu Estate not normally open to the public and to the Countryside Education Trust who support this event each year and donate the use of the Tree House where refreshments are provided for all participants by Hythe & District Inner Wheel. And it’s not all about a stroll in the woods; if you feel like taking on a challenge why not try to set a course record as a walker or runner; or maybe do fancy dress or club kit; or maybe have team competitions? How about getting sponsorship for competing on the Bug Nur s l ing and Rownhams Community Band had their rst General Meeting on 22nd February to adopt a constitution and appoint o cers to serve until early September when they will hold their rst AGM. Hunt?  ere will be bugs galore to root out!! is is a real friendly fun event for everyone, so why not go along and join in? Check out the Walk at: www.walkwithrotary.org.uk Some of last year’s participants Nursling and Rownhams Community Band They practise every Wednesday, as members enjoy the camaraderie of playing together. When new members start, they play a new piece that nobody has played before, so that everyone is at the same point of having to sight read the piece. As well as medleys from Phantom of the Opera, ABBA hits, an arrangement of Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King they have added Mission Impossible, The Pink Panther, Scotland the Brave, Pie Jesu, Oompah-pah, Men of Harlech, Pomp and Circumstance marches, Disney Blockbusters, Rhapsody in Blue and the theme tune to Coronation Street, the popular television soap, to their repertoire. ey have recently acquired a lot more music as well! e Band look forward to playing with new members and have some reserve instruments for those who can play, but perhaps don’t have an instrument. So, they encourage players of all abilities (they don’t hold auditions) to join them to rehearse and play a miscellany of pop medleys, light classics, show tunes and seasonal music. If you are interested, nd that old instrument in your attic and go along.
