Page 40 • The HERALD • 11th May 2023 v F @heraldpublishing v OUT & ABOUT All Saints’ Church Fawley Summer Concert Following on from their successful Flower Festival last year, which was attended by over 500 people, All Saints’ Church Fawley have decided to organize a summer concert. Go along and spend a summer’s evening being entertained by the popular local singing group, e Beaulieu Warblers. e theme of the concert will be ‘Lyrics from Literature’. e Beaulieu Warblers is a Community Choir which brings residents of Beaulieu and the surrounding villages together to sing for fun. e choir is open to all and meets in the Village Primary School on ursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9pm. e event is on Friday 23rd June, 7pm at All Saints’ Church Fawley. Entry to the concert is only £5. Tickets are available to purchase from the following locations; e Store, Black eld, Sandra’s orist, Holbury and Fawley Express convenience store, Fawley. On the night there will be refreshments available to purchase; wine, so drinks, crisps and chocolate bars as well as a ra e with several prizes available to win. ey would like to welcome the local community to go along not only to experience the wonderful singing, but perhaps visit this historic church for the rst time. With a cosy thatched tea room, rare and unusual plants and over 40 fairy doors there is something for everyone in this special place. What’s more, every time you visit you are helping them to provide support and work experience for people with learning disabilities. Visit Furzey Gardens in May and enjoy a riot of colour from many di erent species and varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas, lots of which were grown from the seeds bought back by the plant hunters of the 1920’s. Rhododendrons and azaleas dazzle us with their vibrant displays at every turn. e collection ranges from large rhododendron trees and towering bushes to younger specimens just establishing themselves. Large rhododendron trees drape themselves over paths, providing a picturesque arch for visitors to walk through, whilst tall banks of blooms provide sheltered paths to walk through on windier days. Younger visitors can enjoy searching for over 40 fairy doors, exploring secret woodland paths and creating adventures in the play area. Look out for their giant fairy door too. Furzey Gardens truly does have something to o er all ages. From 27th May a major new art trail is coming to Furzey Gardens to thrill visitors of all ages. More than 20 fourfoot fairy doors have been decorated by talented local artists and groups for you to discover around the garden. Pop into the 16th century cottage and delight in a seasonal art display inspired by Furzey Gardens from local artist Marina Stuart. e cosy thatched tea room will be serving a range of drinks, light lunches and snacks. Don’t forget to sample some of their delicious cakes too. e tea rooms are free to enter, you do not need to visit the gardens to enjoy a Furzey Gardens is a Secret Woodland Garden Nestled in the New Forest National Park lunch on the terrace, or a cup of tea and cake with friends. Have a blast from the past by creating antique Dorset Buttons, a past-time lled with tradition. e workshop is £15 per person and all materials are included, as well as hot drinks and cakes. A show that’s equal measures hilarious, educational, and deeply personal. NYC based scientist and comedian Ben Miller uses stories on topics ranging from his musculoskeletal condition to his childhood historywithmilk as jumping o points for scienti c and comedic exploration. Using pictures, graphs, and videos, this multimedia comedy show makes science both approachable and delightful.
