At New Forest Golf Club, Seniors member Colin Bailey selected his driver on the 186 yard par 3 6th tee and took careful aim at the ag. His ball arced gracefully over some casual water, across the ditch and landed just short of the green where a er bouncing a couple of times onto the green it disappeared down the hole. The Japanese way is Colin Boocock’s digital slide show covering a wide range of railway journeys and tourist visits in Japan. Although his tour was in the very wet summer of 2009, most of what was experienced then is much the same today. Some traditional heritage tourist spots are included together with many modern towns and cities. e show includes journeys on ordinary trains and heritage steam trains, and illustrates the surprising variety that exists among the so-called ‘bullet trains’. It also shows how close the tour party got to Mount Fuji without actually seeing it! In many ways, the Japanese way of doing things is di erent from those in the UK, but in others very similar. Visitors welcome. Find them at www.railwayclubofthenewforest. org To contact them send a message via ‘Trackback’. £5 via BACS for an invitation.
