Georges Bizet’s ‘March and Impromptu’ from ‘Jeux by tasty and most welcome refreshments also provided by the Trust. e second half of the concert got underway with Grieg’s ‘Symphonic Dances’, a masterful use of orchestration and unique style evoking his home country of Norway. e programme continued with the well-known ‘Nocturne’ from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. e concert concluded with the lively sea shantystyle ‘Lymington Quay’ by Tony Kitcherside (a former Musical Director and life-member). e next concert is on Saturday 18th November at the URC, ‘Cornerstone’ Church, Hythe at 3pm. More details can be found at: www.solentconcertorchestra. org.uk d’Enfants’ provided a charming musical interlude with little clue of what was to follow, namely, Saint-Saens’s ‘Bachanale’. e orchestra succeeded in bringing to life by means of a musical orgy, the mysteries of ‘Arabi’ and associated festive merrymaking to end the rst half with a bang which brought enthusiastic applause from the audience.
